just some quick thoughts today.
I've been loving the brand Maison Scotch (daughter brand of Scotch and Soda) recently. They have classic designs with a youthful and unique edge and if I could affort their stuff, I'd fill my closet to the brim! When I went window shopping in their store a few weeks ago (not sure if it's really fun or mere self punishment because I can't buy anything), I saw this adorable jacket. The neckline is awesome. Sure, we all see the Chanel reference but the tassels are a new twist.

I decided to make over a cardi I thrifted in Boston. It has a similar shape and I used some velvet ribbon, ball chain and jump rings I already had at home.
I made tassels out of embroidery floss but in the end didn't like the way they looked on, mostly because of the colors. So I ordered some "broom trim" (that's the literal translation of the German name, don't know how it's called in english, somebody help me out please) for a much more subtle yet still similar look. I might add white ones at some point.
If you plan on making something similar or adding hardware to anything textile, I'd recommend ironing some fusible interfacing on the back if the embelishment penetrates the fabric to make wearing it more comfortable.
Also I wanted to announce the winner of the Swarovski jewelry kit giveaway: Congratulations Anna!
This is probably the last time I'll blog this year because I'll be working during the holidays and have /had no time for sewing. I DIYed quite a lot of my christmas gifts but they are already packed and most of the recipients read the blog, so I can't show pictures. Maybe after the holidays.
Therefore I wish you all a merry and joyful christmas and a great fresh and safe start into the next year!
