Something I haven't sewn before but was in desperate need of (when I say "desperate need", I obviously don't really mean it, I have plenty of jumpers but surprisingly no hoodie).
I rarely sew sportswear but wanted something cozy with a hood for this rainy winter. BTW I'm currently wearing sweat pants, so though I usually rather dress up than down in my daily life, I immediately switch into loungewear at home.
I used this oversized jumper pattern, I think it might even be a dress, and added a hood to the shawl collar, as well as a front pocket. I used a nice thick cotton jersey with a fleece backside from my stash. The cuffs and waistband are actually the last pieces of some of the first fabrics I purchased when I started sewing 4 years ago. I still had them and they came in so handy. I think the colors are a good match and I'm glad I had use for them.
As the pattern runs really big (I guess it's intended), I decided to cut a german size 40 (US 10), but had to take away ca. 5cm from each side after trying it on for the first time as well as to take in the arms and shoulders. You should really think about the size and the fit you want to achive when using this pattern.
To finish it off, I added a grey leather button to the collar. Pretty pleased with the result. The only downside was that I broke a new twin needle in like the first 5min into the project. What do you think?
I wish you all happy holidays and a happy new year as this will be my last post in 2011! Enjoy as long as you can. Thanks for reading.

Sieht total süß aus! Der Stoff ist wirklich schön!
ReplyDeleteI seriously wish I would know how to sew... looks so awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful and looks really cosy. I wear things like this on a night at home too, and I love the fun yellow bands :) I just wanted to thank you for the Avene recommendation - I bought a cleanser and moisturiser and THE NEXT DAY my skin was masses better. It has continued to improve since, and I can bear to wear makeup now. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!!
Lovely! I have that issue too and have been considering doing one up in a sweatshirt jersey. It IS a dress, so if it runs large that means the largest one should fit. I really like your modifications, too.

You really make it seem so easy along with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I think I might
ReplyDeletenever understand. It sort of feels too complicated and very wide for me.
